Anonymous asked: how do you manage to go to all of those places?
hello anonymous!
a mixture of work and pleasure let’s me get to the places on that list. i also have a tendency to not be able to sit still in one city for too long, so having work fulfill part of my travel bug is a big bonus. growing up, my parents took my bother and i on long weekends drives, camping trips across the country, and a four year relocation to europe. i don’t know where their drive for new scenery all the time came from, but they definitely passed it on to me.
my goal, when the funds are available of course, is to try to get somewhere new that i haven’t been to at least twice per year, including what i would consider one big trip. it was difficult doing that about two years ago (ironically when i worked for a travel company, however that industry doesn’t necessarily pay the bills enough to do a trip besides one you’d need a discount on), but very fortunate now to travel cross country about every six weeks, tie in a visit to vancouver friends, and then work work work to get on a trip overseas for my vacation.
i was just discussing with someone today what the 2012 travel plans were: i’d be happy with a warm caribbean quick trip (why not four days in havana?) and really leaning towards the cowboys, mountains, wine and spanish flair in argentina and chile later in the year, or a turkish or lebanese jaunt. i’ve always wanted to take my parents to egypt too.
right now though… i’ve gotta stay put in toronto to save for that!
