Drive-In Wheel by John Körmeling. It is just what the name implies - a Ferris wheel for cars. Video on construction and use here.
This is a 100ft (30m) diameter Ferris Wheel designed to carry [4] cars. The public will be able to ride in it, just like any other amusement ride. Naturally, such an unusual ride has been subjected to close scrutiny by the authorities in Ontario, and in order to get all the necessary data for the approval, Richard Sawyer travelled to Holland in January 2004 to ride it. He reports that it is a very smooth and pleasant ride, and much more comfortable than most normal Ferris Wheels.
This was in front of Harbourfront Centre about 4 years ago. I never went on - but I remembering it being a big hit. I would imagine a little scary too.
